Germany, specifically Monchengladbach, where we spend the first week of SSC J2017. Monchengladbach, which has one of the largest Japanese communities in Germany is located near the city of Dusseldorf. It’s known throughout Europe and the world for its Academy of Art and Electronic Music. See map.
Hardt forest is where we will host the campus. It is part of “Rheindahlen” west of the city which belongs to the nature park Maas-Schwalm-Nette. The landscape is again one of the outstanding features of this environment where we will be stay for a week of SSC J2017.
Monchengladbach is a city of about 250,000 inhabitants, the origins of which date back to the year 974. It is located 16 kilometers west of the Rhine. Gladbach, the name which the city is better known as, has a long history of sporting tradition. Evidence of this is shown by its long record of sporting achievements and by Sport Park which homes Warsteiner Stadium hockeypark, all of which, is located next to the Soccer Stadium Gladbach. This exceptional Sport Park opened in 2005 with a capacity for 12,000 spectators and is the nerve center of German Hockey. Currently used for grass hockey, football, concerts and other entertainment events such as our SSC J2017.
We will be staying for a week in Hardt Wald using the facilities of Crefeld HC (CHTC 1880) and Gladbach HC (GHTC). A visit to the stadium is assured and we will be able to practice some of our activities using the facilities of Warsteiner Hockey Park.
